During the summer I usually feel replenished of light and ideas. The colours and the world starts to awake from March onward, and around June, July, all my hopes are strengthened again, and it’s usually the time where I feel like I could do anything and during this time, I always check what new thing I could learn, and 2019, brought me the desire to learn about silversmithing and jewelry making.
Jewelry making is indeed an art, and it’s a very old tradeskill , and for the majority of it, it could still be performed with the exact same tools as hundreds of years ago, how awesome is that?
Melting metal, hammering metal, considering design, weight, wearability are all things that can come in place when thinking about creating items.
If you are interested on following my journey, keep following, I have been since October, creating my bench, worked on copper, brass, sterling silver, and recently started working with some gems.
While doing so I have been reading and studying books about chasing and repoussé, metalforming, metal sculpting, and so far I can tell you, what an incredible learning it has been!
Jeweller’s bench, basic tools, materials, and tips… I am doing my best to learn as much as I can… and I will make sure to accompany you in my journey.
Everything has a start.
